A Magical August Bank Holiday Wedding Weekend at The Green, Cornwall: Caroline & Alex’s Love Story
This August Bank Holiday weekend, we had the immense pleasure of hosting Caroline and Alex’s breathtaking wedding celebration here at The Green in Cornwall. This wonderful couple from Plymouth spent three unforgettable days with their closest friends and family, and we were thrilled to be part of their love story. From the relaxed Friday night BBQ to a fun-filled Saturday wedding day under clear blue skies, and a cozy Sunday in our Really Rustic barn that was transformed into a cinema, every moment was truly magical.
Day 1: Friday – A Laid-back Arrival BBQ
Caroline and Alex arrived on Friday afternoon, along with their 42 guests who would be staying with us for the weekend. It was a perfect start to their celebrations. Everyone gathered for an informal BBQ. The couple wanted a relaxed vibe for their first night, and that’s exactly what they got—an evening of laughter, delicious food, and plenty of time to catch up with loved ones, many of whom had traveled far for the occasion.
Day 2: Saturday – The Wedding Day
Saturday dawned sunny and bright, a picture-perfect day for a wedding. Additional day guests arrived and after everyone got ready Caroline and Alex exchanged vows in one of our enchanting outdoor settings, beneath the lawn arbour with views of the rolling Cornish countryside. The soft melodies of a live string quartet filled the air, adding a timeless elegance to the ceremony. The floral arrangements were nothing short of breathtaking (be sure to check out our socials for details on the talented florists who brought this vision to life), with the beams of the Red Brick Barn beautifully draped in lush greenery.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks from our charming Horse Box Bar, and there was no shortage of fun as everyone mingled outdoors, soaking up the sunshine. Canapés, including crowd-pleasing mini sausage rolls, were passed around as lawn games kept both young and old entertained.
A Unique Dining Experience
For their wedding meal, Caroline and Alex opted for a more relaxed, intimate dining setup. Instead of the traditional long top table, they chose to sit with their guests at a round table, making the meal feel less formal. Our ever-popular sharing menu was served, allowing guests to pass around delicious platters and enjoy the food together—further emphasizing the warm, communal spirit of the day.
The Evening Party
The celebrations moved into the Red Brick Barn for the evening festivities. The space, with its beams draped in foliage, was transformed into a magical party setting. A live band had everyone on their feet, dancing and celebrating well into the night.
Day 3: Sunday – Relaxing with a Hog Roast & Cinema
The Sunday of Caroline and Alex’s wedding weekend was all about winding down and spending time together. After breakfast our Really Rustic Barn was transformed into a cozy cinema space where guests could relax watch movies on the big screen. It was the perfect setting for a chilled-out Sunday, complete with comfortable seating and a fun, laid-back atmosphere.
To top it all off, everyone enjoyed a hearty hog roast —an ideal way to finish off the day’s festivities. It was a relaxed, informal ending to a weekend filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories.
Day 3: Monday
After a hearty breakfast on Monday guests headed home after a truly magical weekend.
A Weekend to Remember
Caroline and Alex’s wedding was nothing short of spectacular. From the relaxed Friday night BBQ to the sun-drenched ceremony, vibrant evening party, and laid-back Monday. Their wedding weekend at The Green was a celebration that truly reflected their personalities and love for one another.
